The Big Red Bag and Me

posted on 30 October 2011

I have quite a collection of bags - from gold clutch bags to big shoulder bags. As to my favorite? My favorite bag is like a work of art. It's shiny patent leather with a faux-crocodile pattern on it, and makes every outfit look like a million bucks. It looks great with jeans, classy with a trench coat, and sophisticated with heels and a dress. This bag has everything - lots of pockets, a handle that's long enough to go on my shoulder but short enough to carry by hand, and a shiny silver emblem. It's got separate pockets for makeup, cell phone and large items. It’s the best. The memories surrounding the bag are great. It was purchased on a shopping trip with friends after we received our Christmas bonus in December. It was time for a shopping spree at the outlet mall! Little did I know that when I walked into Nine West, the Big Red Bag would be hanging there, beckoning to me, and calling out for me to buy it ON SALE for $20.00! I couldn't afford not to have this bag! I snatched it up as soon as I noticed it in the checkout line, a mere moment away from leaving the store for another year. It was the best impulse buy I've ever made. the store for another year. It was the best impulse buy I've ever made.

Jeans, Shirts, and Sneakers: Mandatory Dresscode for Metal Heads

posted on 19 October 2011

As a kid, I wasn't very fashion-savvy. Whatever I was wearing at the time was more than likely something that had been picked out by my mom. When I hit fifth grade, however, I noticed that clothes actually mattered. At that point, I had gotten rid of anything that I could consider childish in exchange for more teen-friendly clothing. I had yet to fully realize my fashion potential, however. Over the years, I began to develop my musical tastes, and with that came a change of uniform. Gone were the old sweaters and colorful shirts I had worn as a child, and gone were the khaki pants and dress shoes I had worn as a teen. In their place, I chose to wear slightly baggy jeans, snug boots, black shirts featuring heavy metal bands I enjoyed listening to, and sneakers. It may be difficult to identify some people based on their fashion sense, but I know that everywhere I go, regardless of who is looking at me, every person can tell that I love to rock, and that I am definitely comfortable with my clothes.

Sandals: the Ultimate Shoes for Hot Weather

posted on 30 August 2011

When I lived in Australia for six months, the only shoes I wore were sandals. The weather in Brisbane was so hot that socks were just out of the question. There was no doubt that going sockless was one way to help keep cool, and what better way to be sockless than to wear sandals? Sandals mean your feet don't sweat and get smelly. You'd be surprised at how "unsmelly" feet that are sockless are when sandals are worn. Your feet can breathe too, while you stay cool. The locals in Brisband seemed to have the same idea as me, apart from the poor folks who had to wear office gear (felt sorry for them). My own work didn't have a dress code so I could wear even shorts if I wanted too (and I did). We weren't public facing so it didn't really mattered what we wore, so long as we got the job done.
